My kids love ice cream, but they have never had a banana split sundae. I had some perfectly good bananas and vanilla ice cream calling to be eaten so I made both a chocolate sauce and a peanut butter sauce to make this Chocolate and Peanut Butter Banana Split Sundae. I think I may have made a mistake making this sundae because my kids literally went a little bananas for it. Now I have been told by two young precocious minds that if vanilla ice cream is bought it must always be followed with bananas and chocolate and peanut butter sauce. Good thing this is easy to make... I have a feeling this is one of many banana splits I will be making for my kids.
Ingredients:
1 banana per sundae
1 cup of cream peanut butter
1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips
1 (12 oz) can of evaporated milk
vanilla ice cream
chocolate peanut butter cups chopped for garnish (optional)
roasted peanuts chopped for garnish (optional)
maraschino cherries (optional)
Directions:
For Chocolate Sauce:
Heat chocolate chips with 1/2 can of evaporated milk (6oz) on medium low heat. Stir until smooth. Allow to cool before serving over ice cream.
For Peanut Butter Sauce:
Add 2/3 cup of peanut butter with 1/2 can of evaporated milk (6oz) on medium low heat. Stir until smooth. Allow to cool before serving over ice cream.
Note: If either sauce is too thick, just add some milk to thin it out. The cooler the sauces get the thicker they will become as well.
