Is it just me or are the weeks just flying by? I feel like I just said hello to the month of August and now here we are already coming close to the end of August.
My mother and I had another day long cooking session. I tell you for a lady close to 80 years of age... she has more stamina that I do! I am trying my best to get down all her recipes so they will be documented for our family. This week we made a spicy lentil style fritter very popular in Sri Lanka (and India) called Vadai. I also made her egg curry and a few other dishes that I will be posting this week. I am hoping for her to come over again this week for another marathon cooking day so look out for more of her recipes coming your way.
As much as I love spicy food, my favorite dish this week has to be this Strawberry Cream Layer Cake I made. My family simply loved it. My son just celebrated his birthday and has already put in a request for this cake next year for his birthday. Now that's my boy!
